Senior Hunger
Solutions

A strategic initiative of the Mary E. Bivins Foundation advancing

food security for older adults across the Texas Panhandle.

The Challenge

Older adults in the Panhandle are experiencing food insecurity at a rate higher than the national average.

Barriers include limited income, rising food costs, lack of transportation, social isolation, and other health challenges making it difficult to access affordable, nutritious, and consistent meals.

Older adults experiencing food insecurity have diminished health outcomes, higher healthcare costs, and reduced quality of life.

How We Help

Senior Hunger Solutions is an initiative of the Mary E. Bivins Foundation, dedicated to addressing hunger and food insecurity among older adults in the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.

Since 2015, the Mary E. Bivins Foundation has led the conversation on how to meet the challenge faced by our region.

Together, we can strengthen food access and supports so older adults can age with dignity in their own communities.
